Waking up on Burn Day At Alchemy like…
Yea we got dis. For more info on Alchemy itself or to see our adventures on arrival day and our first full day at the burn click here Our Roadtrip To Alchemy: The Georgia Burn
This particular burn was COLD. It was even chilly during the day. I have cold chills in some of these photos, haha. Jessica had brought hot water bottles to put in the bedding just in case. We packed coats and warmer accessories. I’d never been to a burn when it was cold so that was a new experience. We had checked the weather beforehand and where prepared! We stayed nice and warm!
Happy Burn Day Everyone!!!
That’s right…sassy AF. “Welcome Home Models!”
On this day we finally started running into some people we knew from Greensboro and our new friend from arrival night. Michael Miller’s hammer of DOOOOM!!!
Ohhh the joys of the ball pit…
And of trampolines…
And of riding a giant roasting cock 🙂 Errr…what? Oh indeed there is food roasting inside this big see saw rooster! AMAZEBALLS. Functional, fun, fantastical ART!
Hanging with “peeps”,chilling and eating pie filling out of some odd contraption… in the worlds shortest skirt 🙂 Moonkitty FTW!
We came upon a Hillbilly wedding so we took a few minutes to sign the registry and wish them well!
Melissa was reclaming her wedding dress that has been in her closet since her divorce. We helped her to release the negative energy of that event by making the dress into a one of a kind art piece. Magical…magical place…
There is just so much to see and be a part of. So many wonderful people to get to know. Art cars, costumes, events and food. It’s overwhelming to the senses sometimes but in a great way! It shakes you up and wakes you up. Makes you feel alive in the parts of you long forgotten.
And then….the day turns into night and Lamplighters come out to make sure the paths through our community are lit. This is just one of the many groups of volunteers that make keep our city running.
It’s time to burn 🙂 We change into out Burn Night best…or weirdest and hit the trail.
They literally blew up the effigy. I’m used to a slow burn. NOPE. We went up the hill…there were fireworks,Effigy went BOOM and that was all she wrote. That’s ok though! Time to party!
We descend upon Cherokee Farms. This is going to be an interesting night 🙂 The glow from Science can’t be missed. Our friend,Shimmi, will be inside making her famous “Shimmi Shots”! Head towards those lights!!! Oh heyy I know that bunny 🙂
There were many shots indeed! I was gifted a top hat that matched my penguin attire,we met an interesting character that the Rangers had to later rangle and kick out of the burn…and we met some guys who had basically snuck into the event to “Look at the freaks.” That sucked but you move on and get on with the thing. We watched some of the best fire spinners perform and sat peacefully around a fire, reflecting.
The Death Car was a savior. It’s difficult to explain why. You just had to be there!
This wasn’t the best burn of my life. Many great things and connections happened and then a few weird/dramatic things happened. I wasn’t in the best place in life at the time I attended. I was lucky I had such great people around me to keep me grounded. I am forever grateful to you all ❤
The next day we pack it ALL back out and head home towards Greensboro. Gas prices….
Jessica had a special surprise though! We are road tripping back…and we are stopping in Hot Springs! You have no idea what it’s like to go from no showers, for days, to an amazing mineral hot tub by the river at sunset. Let me tell you It’s heaven. That was HEAVEN.
We had this large size tub all to ourselves! I guess I didn’t really comprehend the whole idea of “hot springs”. The idea of a hot bath was just all I could think of…but wow! The minerals in the water made my skin feel incredible. It is no joke! Jessica knows all the things. The water may have been a bit dirty when we got out. Hippies…
If you haven’t had this experience I highly recomend it. For more information please check out: https://www.nchotsprings.com/
We now feel awake and happy about life!
Next stop on the road was Asheville for food and then French Broad Chocolate Lounge! This was my first time there! It was inspirational 🙂
My fortune said ,”Opportunity awaits you next Tuesday”…looking back I can’t say that it did. Haha. But I suppose it’s all in how you look at life. Every day is an opportunity.
I don’t think anything has ever tasted as great as this food after this burn. The chocolate was well needed as well.
I was emotionally and physically wiped. Sleep was good, decompression was HARD and life moved on.
It’s hard to believe that this was five years ago or how much life has changed since this event. I consider myself entirely lucky to still have some of these amazing people in my life!
Till the next adventure in life,
