Bawdy : dealing with sexual matters in a comical way; humorously indecent.
Bawdy? Hmmm…maybe but I think we’re just fun! A few years back some of the most awesome people I know,In Greensboro, got together to put on quite the spectacle. It was called The Bawdy Arts Show and It was hosted by Living Brush at Studio B at The Broach.
The Bawdy Arts show was an array of different types of art. There was live painting, body paintings ,music and burlesque…hand made costumes. The works!
I’m being painted before the actual event by Scott ,assisted by Karine, so that I can interact with guests as a painted model 🙂 Also instead of using a mannequin to display Madelyn’s beautiful costume pieces…I get to wear them!
“She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn’t supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.”
~ Rainbow Rowell
This was my first time being painted where I had to wear pasties and underwear, haha. In Greensboro you are street legal as long as your top half is painted and you have on underwear. I had dinner plans!
You can’t help but feel sassy in paint. There is nothing about it that isn’t sexy.
“Art and love are the same thing: It’s the process of seeing yourself in things that are not you.” ~ Chuck Klosterman
A lot of my friends came to the show. They love body paint and art in general. It’s amazing to have the people you love supporting you in creative ventures. So often in life people just don’t understand body paint. I appreciate you all!!! 🙂
I’m all ready when the show starts but others are part of the live aspect of the show itself!
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
~ Pablo Picasso
There is also performance art, burlesque and music!
It was a great gathering of artists, art supporters and friends!
Later in the night I changed into my after party clothes,I lived right down the street and figured I’d hit the town after the event.
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”
~ Edgar Degas
“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.”
I go home and wash the paint away. It’s gone. This temporary art is my absolute favorite. All that’s left are the photos…and memories of this moment in time…
Until our next adventure….
